Free For All! $7.99 For Most!

Hey, kids! It's time to eat the rich!

Protestors gather in a cyberpunk future in front of a giant sign that says "Free For All." Their signs decry "righteous violence" and "human sacrifice."

Hey, kids! It's time to eat the rich!

Free For All #1, a new graphic novella by Patrick Horvath (Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees), arrives in comic shops today from Oni Press.

Free For All is an inversion of ideas like The Hunger Games and Battle Royale, in which working class people square off with one another to satisfy the whims of the 1%. Instead, Horvath's story takes place in a world where the super-rich are forced to battle one another to the death, with the loser's fortune being liquidated to pay for society's expenses.

The story centers on two combatants: one, the longtime champion with a 22-0 record; and the other, his next competitor...and ex-wife.

Free For All is a bone-crunching story that delves into its deeply flawed characters and the strange, ultra-violent utopia created by its imagined culture.

The first page of my FREE FOR ALL interview with Patrick Horvath.

I would highly recommend Free For All even if I wasn't personally involved with it, but if you go pick up the comic, you'll see a six-page interview I did with Horvath living in the back of the book! I'm very proud to see my name in an Oni comic, let alone one like this.

If you want to get one of these from me, I'll send it to you and optionally sign my pages. I don't have any of them yet, but have ordered a bunch of them which will be delivered soon. In the meantime, you can find it at your local comic shop.

Free For All #1 is also available digitally on Barnes & Noble's Nook storefront.
